Doflein (1899) described a new species labeled as collected from Tefé, Brazil. The specimen has since been identified as the species Uca chlorophthalmus. Since Tefé is from the interior of the country without an ocean border, the collection location is clearly incorrect and the specimen was likely collected somewhere from the Indian coast of Africa and then subsequently mislabled.
